Trifecta betting is a type of wager made on a horse race, in which the bettor picks the first three horses and receives a payout if all three horses place in the top three positions in the final race results. There are however several different types of Trifecta bets, including a standard bet, box/flexi trifecta and a standout trifecta.
Standard Trifecta
A trifecta bet is a wager in the sport of horse racing. To win a trifecta, three selections (horses) must finish in the first three positions in exact order. Trifecta betting is considered one of the most difficult forms of betting, because it requires you to correctly predict the first three finishers in the correct order. The trifecta is popular with many sports betting gamblers because of the potential to win large sums of money. There is also a trifecta-style bet in fantasy sports. Like horse racing, the three players must be drafted in a particular order for the bet to pay out.
Box/Flexi Trifecta Bet
A box-flexi trifecta is a bet on the top three finishing horses in a race, but where you specify which horses you are betting on. The horses you choose must be in the same order in which they finish, and you must get all three horses, in the correct order, for a win. The box-flexi trifecta is a variation of the better known box-trifecta, which also involves betting on the top three horses, but where you can choose any three horses.
Standout Trifecta
The standout trifecta is a bet where you pick the first 3 finishers, however you select one horse to come in first position. Your selections for the remaining two horses can place either 2nd or 3rd in no particular order.
