Manly Warringah Sea Eagles

The Manly Warringah Sea Eagles are an Australian professional rugby league club based on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. They compete in the National Rugby League (NRL) premiership, as well as the Holden Cup junior competition. The Manly Warringah Rugby League Football Club were formed at a meeting on 4 March 1911 at the Palmerston Hotel, Narrabeen, with the club playing in a striped blue jersey. The club’s first trial match was played on 18 April 1911 against the North Sydney Bears.

In 1913, the Northern Suburbs Rugby Football Club invited Manly-Warringah to play in the NSWRL Premiership. Manly-Warringah accepted and played their first ever NSWRL Premiership match against Newtown which they lost 11–21. During the early 1920s, Frank Burge acquired the majority of shares in Manly-Warringah, earning himself the nickname “Mr Manly”. He later became premier of New South Wales.
