New Zealand Warriors

The New Zealand Warriors are a professional rugby league team based in Auckland, New Zealand. They compete in the National Rugby League (NRL) and are the only professional rugby league team based in the country.

The team was founded in 1995 as a joint Australia-based club following the liquidation of the original Wellington-based New Zealand Warriors team. The current version of the Warriors played their first season in the Australian Rugby League premiership in 1995 before switching to rugby union, becoming the Auckland Warriors.

The Warriors returned to rugby league after a second stint in union ended in 2002. To date, they have won three premierships and four minor premierships, and have never won an NRL Grand Final, having lost two.
