Parramatta Eels

The Parramatta Eels are a professional rugby league team based in the Sydney suburb of Parramatta. They play in the National Rugby League (NRL) premiership, and are one of nine existing teams from the state capital. The club was formed in 1947 as a result of the efforts of supporters of the Parramatta District Rugby League Football Club, who wanted their own team to play in the semi-professional New South Wales Rugby Football League premiership.

Parramatta Eels NRL team is fourth out of sixteen teams in the National Rugby League competition. The team has played since 1947 when they were admitted into the then New South Wales Rugby Football League premiership. They finished sixth in their first year after which they were eliminated from the playoffs.
